Assistant Wagon Master

Unable to remain still during the long exposure time, one of the mules is captured in mid-kick.  It may be too much to hope that the assistant wagon master is Thomas Lovewell’s kid-brother Alfred, working his way west.  His 1861 Army enlistment paper lists Alfred's previous occupation as “teamster."
