Classes assemble to have their picture taken in front of the school at Switzer’s Gap, named for James Switzer, a Dunkard minister. There may be several Lovewell grandchildren in the picture, but two are known for sure - Lillie Robinson and Alice McCaul, daughters of “Julany” McCaul Robinson, recently rescued by Thomas from squalid poverty in St. Louis.
