This picture is a newspaper halftone of the couple’s portrait, probably taken in the 1860’s. Daniel Davis was a nephew of Thomas Lovewell’s first wife. Nancy Davis, and a brother of his second wife, Orel Jane Davis. The Lovewell and Davis families pushed the Kansas frontier west of the big bend of the Republican River.
