Perhaps the only individual portrait Orel Jane Lovewell ever posed for, however reluctantly, it may have been taken in the spring of 1913 when she was 70. According to the local paper, the Lovewell Index, that was the year when she hiked to the post office to announce that her 87-year-old husband was feeling better than he had in years, and was enjoying their beautiful weather by strolling about in his yard.
